The 80s: the best childhood decade ever! Not only could you spend time in an arcade with friends, but every Saturday morning, children could watch their favorite cartoons from 7AM- 1PM on every possible channel that you can imagine.

What made 80s animation era special were the heroes in the cartoons: She-ra, He-man, the Care Bears, the Ninja Turtles, GI-Joe, Transformers, and Jem. The shows were informative and the characters in them inspired viewers to want to live in a better world, be kinder, and caring.

Let’s begin with G.I. Joe! G.I. Joe had a collection of heroes who inspired patriotism while Optimus Prime and the Autobots were examples of mortality and goodness in a sometimes cruel and unjust universe. They show the importance of teamwork and leadership as well. Speaking of teamwork! Let’s not forget our pizza-loving friends Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or our cuddly Care Bears who taught the importance of friendship, teamwork, being empathetic, and using love instead of violence.

The 80s also had strong female leaders. Princess Adora led the rebellion that hoped to bring peace and justice to Etheria. Jerrica Benton, our Rockstar: Jem, was a modern hero who taught viewers the trials and troubles of running a business, a home, and maintaining relationships with those you love.

Finally! He-Man inspired viewers to summon the power to transform into the very best versions of ourselves. “I HAVE THE POWER!”
