Eating Babies! What is going on? Apparently, during a town-hall meeting, hosted by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez inside the Queens Public Library in Corona, a woman addressed the climate crisis. As she explained her concerns, she took off her jacket to reveal a T-shirt that said, “Save the Planet, Eat the Children.” She explained that there is too much CO2 and that the solution is to “start eating babies.” Was she serious?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez represents parts of Queens and the Bronx. Many people believe that this was a staged performance because Congress members typically have these types of events with little fanfare; unlike this event, which was packed with constituents, reporters and a television camera.
So how did Ms. Ocasio-Cortez respond to this? Well, she stated, “We need to treat the climate crisis with the urgency that it does present… If we act in a positive way, there is space for hope. We are never beyond hope.” Nice save Ms. Ocasio-Cortez!
